Luxtorpeda (Luxury torpedo) was popular name of internal combustion fast trains from 1930th. Such trains were constructed in Austria, but Poland built them in own factories on Austrian license. Polish version were faster than original ones.

Polish Luxtorpedoes drove between Warsaw and Łódź, Warsaw and Zakopane and Warsaw and Poznan. The way from Kraków to Zakopane lasted only 2 hours and 18 minutes which is still the undefeated record. It's a little funny and sad, that none of current Polish trains could do this way faster than nearly 100 years old train.

Polish Luxtorpedos were almost totally destroyed during II World War. Two of them, which survived, served as luxury trains only for Germans. After liberation, one of the train served as source of spare parts to other one till 1954, when both of them were cut up for scrap.
