Nicolaus Copernicus (Mikołaj Kopernik). Copernicus was Pole from Toruń where he was born in 1473.. Most of his life lived in Frombork where he worked. He was mathematician, astronomer, physician, quadrilingual polyglot, classical scholar, translator, artist, Catholic cleric, jurist, governor, military leader, diplomat and economist. Copernicus never married or had children.
In 1453, just before his death, his great work "De revolutionibus orbium coelestium (On the Revolutions of the Celestial Spheres)" was published in Nurymburg. This publication started revolution sometimes called "Copernicus revolution".
