Delta wings - wings in the form of triangle. Used i.e. in Eurofighter (German), F-106 Delta Dart (USA), Vulcan (GB). Such wings have better aerodynamic parameters in supersonic speeds, are stronger, than normal wings and can be built from lighter materials.

Multi stage rocket - rocket using more than one stages, each of them contains own engine and propellant. Such constructions allows to drop useless parts of rocket after the end of the fuel. The rocket could be lighter and lighter. Multi stage rockets were used in Saturn and Soyuz programs.

Both conceptions: delta wings and multi stage rocket were invented in.. 1600-1651 !!! The inventor, Kazimierz Siemienowicz, was Polish military engineer (also Second in Command of Polish Royal Artillery and.. gunsmith). In fact some scientists disagree to the Kazimierz nationality. It is also believed, that he was Lithuanian or even Belarusian. One thing is certain, he studied on Polish, Lithuanian and Belarusian schools.

Not all from the Siemionowicz inventions were built few hundreds years after his death. Some of them was sucesfully used during battles in his times. For example, his rockets were used in Battle of Khotyn (pol Chocim) in 1621 during war between Ottoman Empire and Polish.
