Not so long ago we wrote about Polish Oligarchs. Today story about one of them - Karol Stanisław Radziwił - "Mr. Lover". Karol was the wealthiest Polish oligarch and one of the wealthiest in Europe (in second half of XVIII century). He had 16 cities and 683 villiges.

Karol Stanisław Radziwił - Polish oligarch

His person is interesting because of his weird freaks. Some historics says, that he probably was mentally ill. He always talk to other people starting with the words "Mr. Lover.." like "Mr. lover come to me" or "Mr. lover, what a nice whether we have." - hence his nickname "Mr. Lover" (pol. Panie Kochanku).

He organized big drunken feasts and invited or sometimes even forced his neigbhours to come. During such partys he fraternized with poorer than him or beat and insulted them. When he was drunk, he used to undress and switch his uniform with the poorest guy on his party. This is one of the reasons of his great popularity among the poor nobles.

Radziwił was also very cruel man. There is a story, that he forced young peasant girls to climb on the trees and sing like a birds, then he shot to them with pepper bullets.

Karol Radziwił was untouchable because of the great wealth and estate. He is today symbol of the Polish oligarch.
