First traces of humans on Polish teritory are dated on about 100 000 years b. c. (Mainly neandethals hunters, which penetrated the south areas of current Poland). First traces of settlement are dated on 8000 - 5500 years b.c. It is not known, when people started to gather in bigger social groups and started to built towns and villages. In Poland there is very well known archeological place, which shows fortified settlement from Iron Age. This is small village near Poznan - Biskupin.

Biskupin is definitly worth to see. If You cannot or don't want to visit this place by own, at least see museum site (polish, english and deutch versions).
