In Old Poland love magic (though repressed by the church) was very popular either among nobility, peasants and citizens and even at the royal court.

Some components to magic potions were simple and ordinary, but some of them were really disgusting. For example, lovage which is still regarded as an aphrodisiac is still used in in Polish broths or soups. Disgusting ingredient were certainly blood and sometimes the blood of menstruation, some parts of animals, nails, bone marrow, hairs, tooths, human sweet etc.

Today love magic is still popular but not in such drastic way with strange elixirs ingredients. Today magic can be found in woman's color press, in stupid TV auditions, internet sites, "phone fairies" and old gypsies woman.
