Protest against the burial of Polish president in Krakow.

PDF

Currently in Poland there is National Mourning after tragic death of President Lech Kaczyński. Just to remaind - he, his wife and almost 90 other people died in Polish Air Force One crash in Smoleńsk.

It's great tragedy, but sadly, in the Polish newspapers and TVs all this is overshadow by the news of the burial of the President and his wife in the Wawel Cathedral in Krakow. This breaking news caused a split in Poland - there is a strong group, which do not want to bury Lech and Maria Kaczyński in such place. Why ? Because they are saying, that Wawel Cathedral is place reserved for Poland's kings and heroes. In fact, it is true. In Krakow rest (inter alia):

- Stefan Batory - Polish king died in 1586

- Władysław IV with his wife and children - another king

- Zygmunt the Old with whole family - king, died in 1572

- Józef Piłsudski - Polish hero, chief of state, First Marshal and the authoritarian leader of the Second Polish Republic after I World War

- Władysław Sikorski - Polish military and political leader from II World War

and many more

Another controversial thing is that Lech Kaczyński lived in Warsaw- Polish capital - and was once mayor of this city. It is also a rumor, that he wanted to be bury in Warsaw most known cemetery - Powiązki.

Polish officials said, that Lech Kaczyński will rest in the crypt of Józef Piłsudski, and that this place was chosen by church leaders and Kaczyński family.

This decision caused wave of protests. Some of the Poles are gathering, for example on Facebook, but also on the streets and manifesting against the decision of the Polish Church. Even great Polish director Wajda, said, that the decision "will spark protests and could cause the deepest splits in Poland since 1989".

You'r right. It could turn, that he ordered to land. What then ? Is he still worth to be buried in the heroes tomb ?

They could wait a little with such decision.

No, it's a little weird. they should have buried him somewhere else and moved him to wawel in a few years, if there was enough demand.

what happens if it comes out next week that he ordered the plane to land, and was partially responsible for those deaths?
