Mieszko's I (the first king of the Poland) pastures were full of... pigs. Those pigs had longer legs, than pigs breeded now and they were grazed with sheeps, goats.

Pigs were valuable not only because their meet, but also because they were used in search of truffles - one of the most expensive mushrooms. Truffles grow under the ground and are extremely difficult to find. Pigs have very good nose (better than dogs) and can smell the mushrooms from the distance.

In Poland there are few popular pig's races: polsih white with hanging ears (most common in Polsih: poska biała zwisoucha), polish big white and the oldest races: golden white, spotted and puławska.
