Not many peoples nows that there were plans to join Madagascar to the Poland. It was not long before II World War, when Madagascar was French territory. The Republic of France was to give Poland that colony.

In 1937 Polish expedition visited Madagascar. The purpose was to find out if Polish farmers would be able to cultivate the island lands. The leader of expedition was mjr Lepecki - close friend to Marszałek Piłsudski (Polish dictator)
Whole plan didn't worked out. The reasons were II World War and not good press feedback. French and local Madagaskar newspapers attacked Poland and her colonial aspirations.
