During II World War Hitler built bunker complex in Polish land - Mazury (near Gierłoż village). Those bunker were Hitler and Luftwaffe main hedquaters. Hitler spent here overall 800 days during 3.5 year period.
The complex was placed on 250ha forest area. Bunkers were surrounded by mine fields and fence with wooden watching towers and concrete machine guns spots.
In here was an unsuccesfull assasination attempt on Hitler's life. On July 20 Claus von Stauffenberg caried a bomb hidden in briefcase into the meeting room where was also Hitler. Bomb exploded devastating room interior but unfortunatelly Hitler survived with only light injures. This whole operation was presented in latest film with Tom Cruise "Valkyria".

The Wolf's Lair was destroyed by sapers in 25.01 1945 and after that, during many years they were looted from pipes, cables, iron and even stones. Those materials was used to rebuild Poland after war. Even barracks were taken to Warsaw (capital city) where they served as workers hotel and after that, till now as academicans for students.
